About a year ago, I was a recent high school graduate ready to conquer college, but also anxious for what was to come. “Would I find a good community? Will I find people who will push me to be the best version of myself? Who do I want to be in 4 years?” All questions that ran through my mind as I prepared to attend Western and go through recruitment. So, who do I want to be in 4 years? I want to be someone who is always determined to do my best in whatever I undertake. I want to be someone who seeks to be kind even when the world says not to be. These qualities can be hard and challenging because they aren’t the typical normal things. I can say without a doubt that I have found these qualities within my sisters at Alpha Delta Pi.
ADPi has brought me the people who push me to do my best in academics, service, and leadership. I have been challenged, but I know I can always rely on my sisters to have my back. When times get hard and I feel homesick, my sisters are the ones I know I can lean on. Going into college, you don’t want to be the same person in four years. You want to be a better version of yourself. College is a time to grow, make mistakes, and learn. ADPi has been a place where I have been able to make mistakes and learn from these mistakes. Going into recruitment, I looked for girls who I knew would help me become the best version of myself. I am thankful that I have found that within ADPi.
As I reflect on my first year in ADPi, I am thankful for all the hard moments and great moments. I’m thankful to have a home away from home and sisters who will always have my back. This isn’t just a sisterhood for 4 years, but for life. I couldn’t be more grateful that I get to be a part of this sisterhood. OBIC!!
